Hello everyone,
This announcement is coming to you from a basement in Bushwick, New York. I have something super exciting to share with you today!
About a month and a half ago, I started hosting Sex Writing Workshops. These are short sessions in the evening where people come together over Zoom to write, explore their sexuality, and share some of the most intimate details of their lives with other random strangers. Don’t ask me why the concept of the workshop appeals to people because I honestly don’t know. But what I will say is that in the sharing portion of the workshops, people have opened up. People have shared stories with a level of vulnerability that is so honest and beautiful that it’s hard to put into words. Needless to say, I’m hooked, and I can’t wait to host more of these. But I wanted to find a way to make people’s time in the workshops count, to make it worth it, and to keep the energy going.
Not long after I held the first workshop, I went hiking in the Desierto de Los Leones with some friends outside of Mexico City. We did shrooms and had some interesting conversations along the way:
Could we find a way to enable the people from the workshops to share their stories? Could we help them capture these most beautiful, personal, funny, moving, cheeky, and intimate details of their lives and publish them for a wider audience? Could we help them be the change they want to see in the world: deconstructing their cultural taboos about sex, breaking down the boundaries that they’ve inherited, and showing us all that we are capable of not only loving each other but also of loving ourselves?
Anyway, yes, these are big and lofty ideas we were throwing around. I have still not decided exactly when or how we are going to share the stories. But I do know one way to start:
I’ve added a “Community Stories” tab to the Misseducated homepage. This is super exciting, and here is how it’s going to work as far as I know:
Every person who attends the Sex Writing Workshop will have the opportunity to publish their story on the Misseducated “Community Stories” section.
These stories can be submitted up to a week after the workshop takes place and can be up to 600 words long.
They can be published anonymously or with people’s names.
But only material that was written during the Sex Writing Workshop can be considered.
So, there we are! The idea of “Community Stories” has been born, and I am incredibly excited about it. I will put up the first story tomorrow. I am not going to import your emails into the Community Stories section because I don’t want to spam you with something you haven’t explicitly subscribed to. So, if you would like to subscribe to the Community Stories, please respond “Yes” to this email or comment below, and I will add you to the list.
With that, I will have more community stories and Misseducated posts for you soon! 😝
Sending love, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend,
Tash

Yes, a great idea. And I meant to mention that I loved your recent post with graphs all about mushrooms and masturbation.
